The American Center was honored to host a delegation of 20 people at the 74th Annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC. This yearly event is a gathering of leaders from over 110 Nations who come together in the spirit of Jesus of Nazareth. It is a week-long event with opportunities to deepen friendships, pray with one another, interact with our elected officials, and experience the beauty of our nation's capital.

The American Center delegation hailed from Arizona, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Utah and a special representative from Pakistan. We were also honored to have four Grand Canyon University students among us, highlighting our efforts to promote spiritual reflection and leadership development among young people.

White House Tour

We were especially grateful to the Office of Senator Ruben Gallego for helping us secure some special visits during the week. Gathering together on Wednesday morning, members of the delegation braved the cold DC Winter morning air to visit the White House. The tour was a great opportunity for delegation members to experience the storied history and elegant beauty of the nation's house. Other special sites included the US Capitol Visitors' Center and the headquarters of the US Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Congressional Visits

After the tour of the White House, the delegation was honored to meet with two others members of the Arizona Congressional delegation. With the help of Pastor David Wade, senior pastor of the Historic Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Mesa, Arizona, the delegation had special times of conversation with Senator Mark Kelly and Congressman Greg Stanton.

Arizona Delegation and International Friends

The Arizona delegation was happy to meet with some of our international friends and to share in the spirit of Jesus one with another. Our international Friends hailed from Syria, Turkey, India and Sweden. We spent time together before the Congressional dinner deepening relationships and sharing our hearts about things going on in the world.

Special Moments During National Prayer Breakfast Week

The delegation enjoyed many special moments throughout the week, during the Thursday morning breakfast itself, as well as in small groups around the hotel, and in times of intense prayer in offsite locations. We were grateful to meet new friends from Sudan, Germany, Romania, DR Congo and other places around the world and to be with them in a spirit of fellowship.

A special thanks to our brother and friend Dr Hythem Shadid for bringing together so many friends from various Middle East Nations. The special Middle East dinner was a highlight of the prayer breakfast.

We seek God for a praying nation here in the United States and abroad. We asked God for Nations where people can gather together as friends in the spirit of Jesus. No agenda, just learning to live by the principles that Jesus taught us, loving God and loving one another.
